# Working an action to done

> The five action statuses on the Action Board and the click path to move an action from suggestion to completed.

Actions on the [Action Board](/docs/academy/action-board) move through five statuses. Suggested is the agent's inbox. To Do, In Progress, and Done are yours. Dismissed is shared: you can dismiss a card, and the agent can dismiss stale items it no longer stands behind.

### The five statuses

* **Suggested**: freshly discovered by the agent, waiting for your call. Suggested actions live in the carousel above the board, not in a column.
* **To Do**: accepted and queued. Setup actions and actions created via Agent Chat skip Suggested and land here directly.
* **In Progress**: someone is on it. Moving a card here tells teammates, and the agent, that the item is being handled.
* **Done**: completed. This stamps a completion timestamp, and the agent will not remake the same action for 30 days.
* **Dismissed**: not going to do it. This stamps a dismissal timestamp and removes the card from the board. Moving a card back out of Done or Dismissed clears the timestamp again.

### The click path

#### 1. Triage the Suggested carousel

Open **Actions** in the sidebar. New suggestions appear in the carousel at the top, ordered by severity. For each card: **Accept** moves it to To Do, **Dismiss** removes it. Click the card first if you want the full story: description, agent reasoning, and type-specific detail (prompt, post, or page).

Dismissed by mistake? Switch the carousel's filter to the dismissed view, which keeps the last two weeks of dismissals, and accept from there.

#### 2. Open the card and assign it

Click any card to open the detail panel. Assign a teammate with the assignee picker, and use comments to leave context; every status change, assignment, and comment lands in the card's activity timeline, so the history stays with the action. Viewers can read everything but cannot change status, assign, or comment.

#### 3. Do the work via the deep link

Every card carries a call-to-action button that jumps into the relevant feature: a Content Gap action opens the content agent (the detail panel also offers View full report), a Reddit action opens the post, a Performance action opens Site Health. Do the work there, not from memory.

#### 4. Drag it across the board

Drag the card between **To Do**, **In Progress**, and **Done** as the work moves. That is the whole mechanic: drag and drop is how status changes on the board.

You can also delegate the bookkeeping: Agent Chat can move statuses for you ("mark the sitemap action as done"), which is useful when you finish several things in one sitting. See [Asking Agent Chat](/docs/academy/agent-chat).

### After it's done

Done is not just tidying. The agent will not remake a completed action for 30 days; after that, if the issue is still in the data, it can return as a new suggestion. Suggested and To Do items left untouched for more than 7 days get re-checked by the agent itself: if fresh data no longer supports one, it dismisses it, and it can also refresh the card copy or change severity. Those reasons are not shown on the card, but an untouched board decays gracefully instead of rotting.
