UGC Citations are AI answer references drawn from user-generated content such as Reddit threads, forum posts, reviews, Q&A communities, social posts, Discord archives, and marketplace feedback. They matter because AI systems often use community discussion to understand real-world product experience, sentiment, objections, and comparisons.
Traditional SEO often treated UGC as a secondary signal. In AI search, community content can become a primary evidence layer for recommendations, especially when owned marketing pages are promotional or lack lived experience. A model answering 'best analytics tools for startups' may trust detailed Reddit comparisons, G2 reviews, or niche forum debates more than vendor copy.
