What is atlassian-bot?
atlassian-bot belongs to Atlassian's custom website connector. An organization administrator supplies an HTTPS site that the organization owns, chooses how often to index it, and starts the crawl. The resulting index is stored in Atlassian Teamwork Graph for Search, Rovo Chat, and Rovo Agents.
The connector accepts HTML pages and plain-text files. Atlassian says it records page content together with fields such as the page name, URL, description, creation date, and last updated date. This is a targeted crawl of a site selected by an Atlassian customer, not an open-ended crawl of the public web.
Public websites can be connected without credentials. The connector also supports basic authentication and login forms for sites such as internal knowledge bases. That option needs a careful permissions review: Atlassian warns that every Teamwork Graph user can access all content visible to the configured crawler account, because the connector does not preserve individual permissions from the source site.
Content collected by atlassian-bot can appear in that customer's Atlassian search results or provide context to its Rovo chats and agents. There is no operator documentation saying this crawler feeds a public AI search engine or trains a general-purpose model. Blocking it affects the configured Teamwork Graph connection, not ordinary web search rankings.
Atlassian's connector documentation says the crawler follows path-level allow and disallow rules under an atlassian-bot group. The Cloudflare directory record supplied for this bot marks robots.txt following as false, so the two records do not agree. On a sensitive site, verify the behavior during connector setup instead of treating robots.txt as the only access boundary.
Requests use the literal atlassian-bot user agent. Atlassian also publishes IP ranges with the product value rovo-crawler for customers whose firewalls require an allowlist. this bot has no Web Bot Auth signature URL, so the user-agent text by itself does not prove that a request came from Atlassian.
