The Short Version

Promptwatch is the AI search visibility and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) platform that turns AI search into a revenue channel. It tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot and other AI engines mention, rank and cite a brand, explains why (through citations, AI crawler logs and content gaps), and then fixes it: Content Agents write and publish the pages AI cites, Agent Chat analyzes the data on demand and the Action Board tells teams exactly what to do next. Visitor analytics close the loop by measuring the traffic and conversions AI search sends.

Why Promptwatch

AI assistants are where buyers now research, compare and shortlist. If an AI model doesn't recommend a brand, that brand isn't in the consideration set. Most "AI visibility" tools stop at telling you whether you were mentioned. Promptwatch is built to grow that visibility and prove the revenue impact.

Proof points:

  • Crisp found AI traffic converts at 2x the rate of traditional channels and scaled to 5–10 AI-optimized articles per day. Case study
  • TreeHouse (Pararius, Huurwoningen.nl) grew AI search to ~25% of organic conversions, 99% of it from ChatGPT. Case study
  • Monks turns AI citation gaps into content roadmaps for clients such as Netflix, BMW, Asana and Paycor. Case study
  • OpenUp moved from intuition-based content planning to a prompt-led GEO strategy. Case study

How Promptwatch Works

Promptwatch is organized as one loop. Each step feeds the next, all inside one product.

  1. Monitor what AI says about your brand: prompts, responses, visibility, sentiment, the claims AI makes, competitors.
  2. Trace where AI gets its answers: citations, offsite mentions, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn.
  3. Act on the gaps: the Action Board, Content Agents, Content Refresh and Agent Chat.
  4. Measure the impact on your own site: AI crawler logs, visitor analytics, Search Console and Bing data.

A one-page tour of every screen is in the Product map. New users start with the Quickstart.

Monitored AI Engines

Promptwatch collects responses from the real user interfaces of the major AI platforms, not only from APIs, so the data matches what people actually see. Every prompt runs across the models, countries and languages you choose. New models are added as they launch and deprecated models are retired automatically. See Choosing your models.

Metrics

Promptwatch condenses every AI answer into a small set of clearly defined metrics. Full definitions: Metrics overview.

  • Visibility Score (0–100): how prominently a brand appears when AI answers tracked prompts. Each response is scored on placement, share of attention and depth, then averaged; responses that don't mention the brand count as zero. Docs
  • Share of Voice: a brand's slice of all brand mentions in the current filters, one mention per response per brand. Docs
  • Position: where a brand lands in the order of brands within an answer, averaged across responses that mention it. Lower is better. Docs
  • Sentiment score (0–100): how positively AI describes the brand, around 50 being neutral, scored independently of visibility. Docs
  • Citation rank: where a brand's own domain lands in an answer's source list. Closer to 1 means the content is a primary source. Docs
  • Self-citation rate: the share of citations that point at the brand's own domain rather than third-party pages. Docs
  • Citation Share: per topic, the citations of the brand's own sites divided by all citations in that topic's answers. Shown on the Topics page next to Visibility, Avg. Position, Share of Voice and Sentiment.

Read together, they locate the problem: low Share of Voice means a coverage problem, late Position means a prominence problem, mentions without self-citations mean a content or crawlability problem, and weak sentiment means a reputation problem. See Citations vs. mentions and Why did my score drop?.

Feature Reference

Prompt tracking and monitoring

Landing page: Prompt Tracking

  • Monitors: panels of prompts that run on a schedule across chosen models, countries and languages. A monitor's language and location are fixed once it's created, so results from different markets never mix. What is a monitor · Creating a monitor · Three monitors to set up first
  • Tracking frequency: prompts run daily on every plan. On Business and Agency Scale (and Enterprise on request), a monitor can run several times a day instead: every 12 hours, every 6 hours or every hour, for a steadier visibility number or to follow a launch or campaign closely. Changelog
  • Prompts and Responses: every tracked prompt in one table with bulk editing, plus every individual AI answer with brand and competitor mentions highlighted. Response exports list each brand mention with its position in the answer. Working with prompts · Understanding responses
  • Topics and tags: organize prompts your way and filter every report by them. Topics have their own page under Trends, showing Visibility, Citation Share, Avg. Position, Share of Voice and Sentiment per topic and per prompt, with By Competitor and By Rank views, and each topic gets its own color. Organizing your setup · Changelog
  • Analysis instructions: plain-language rules in the Brand Book (up to 1,000 characters) for what counts as a mention of your brand and your competitors, for example when a brand name is also a common word. Visibility, sentiment, share of voice and competitor rankings follow those rules for new responses. Changelog
  • Geo targeting: track prompts in any language at country level on every plan, and at state and city level on Business, agency and Enterprise plans.
  • Local GEO/SEO targeting: pin a monitor to an exact location, down to latitude and longitude. Search for a place or drop a pin on the map, and choose an accuracy radius from 20 meters to 5 km. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode then answer as if the prompt was asked from that spot, so local businesses, franchises and multi-location brands see the "near me" answers their customers get. Other models use the monitor's country, state and city. Available on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise, and through the REST API and MCP.
  • Personas: prompt like your actual buyers for more accurate monitoring. Persona insights shows visibility, position and sentiment per persona on a radar chart against the general audience, with topics or AI models as the spokes, and points out the persona with the biggest gap. Personas · Changelog
  • Trends and Heatmap: prompt visibility over time (risers and decliners), and a heatmap with brands, models, topics, countries or personas on either axis, colored by visibility, sentiment, position or share of voice, so you see exactly where you lose. Heatmap
  • Page Tracker: watch specific URLs (yours or a competitor's) and see the prompts and responses that cite them. Page Tracker
  • Competitors and Brand Merging: every competitor detected in responses, with merging of duplicate brand names and aliases. Identifying your competitors · Brand Merging
  • Sentiment Analysis: sentiment by prompt, topic and competitor, with a weekly AI summary. Sentiment tracking
  • Custom dashboards: pick and order widgets such as brand visibility over time, sentiment, visibility by country, the heatmap, the persona radar, top cited domains and URLs, and top YouTube videos, Reddit posts and LinkedIn posts. Start from a template (competitor comparison, topic gaps, AI model breakdown or citations), or ask Agent Chat or the MCP server to build one. Share dashboards with the team or keep them personal, and schedule any dashboard as a PDF report. Reading your dashboard · Changelog

Brand Narrative and Fact Check

  • Brand Narrative: pulls the individual claims AI makes about you and your competitors out of every tracked response, like "affordable for small teams" or "its mobile app lacks features". Repeated claims are grouped, so you see how often AI says each one and which models say it. Each claim is filed under a theme such as Pricing, Features, Support or Reputation and scored positive, neutral, negative or mixed, which rolls up into a 0–100 score per theme you can compare against competitors. Available on every plan.
  • Fact Check: mark a claim Accurate or Inaccurate, and Promptwatch reads the pages crawled from your site to find the ones that state it or the opposite, with quotes and a recommended next step. This shows which of your own pages AI is learning the wrong things from. Available on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise; each check uses agent credits.
  • Changelog: Fact Check & Brand Narrative

Prompt Volumes and Prompt Explorer

Landing page: Prompt Volumes

  • Prompt Volumes: monthly search volumes, difficulty scores and citation rates for the prompts customers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, so teams track the questions that matter instead of guessing.
  • Prompt Explorer: prompt suggestions from Google Search Console, ranking keywords, manual search, "People also ask" and any page on your website. Prompt Explorer · Finding and adding prompts

Query Fanouts

Citations and sources

  • Citations: every URL and domain AI answers cite, with URL Positions (where each URL lands in the source list over time) and Citation Trends (each citation classified into 22 content types and 20 source types, with first cited date, ramp-up, peak and decay half-life per page). Understanding sources and citations
  • Offsite Mentions: third-party pages that name your brand or competitors, even without a link, ranked as opportunities to influence sources you don't own. Offsite mentions
  • Reddit: the threads and subreddits AI cites, and where to show up. Landing page: Reddit Marketing · Docs
  • YouTube: the videos and channels AI cites. Docs
  • LinkedIn: the posts and pages AI cites. Docs
  • Instagram: the accounts, reels and posts AI cites, with likes, comments, plays and follower counts, in a Posts tab and an Accounts tab you can export to CSV or Excel. Changelog
  • Source types: every cited domain is classified, including a Directory type for listing, review and marketplace sites such as G2, Capterra and Trustpilot.
  • My channels: filter Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn citations to the accounts your brand runs. Social source types
  • Strategy guide: Reddit and YouTube strategy

Action Board

  • A prioritized to-do list of what to do next to improve AI visibility: content gaps, sentiment, Reddit, offsite, site health, performance, untracked and untapped pages, setup and your own custom actions. Board or list layout, with a weekly action digest email. Action Board · How actions are prioritized · Working an action

Agent Chat

  • A conversational AI search analyst over your live visibility data. Ask anything; it digs through prompts, citations, competitors and traffic, runs multi-step analyses and renders charts in the conversation. Includes a skills library (weekly briefings, competitor gap analysis, citation research, content sprints) and scheduled chats that deliver recurring analyses automatically. When a request is unclear it asks a short multiple-choice question first, and before it changes anything it asks for every value it needs. It can also build custom dashboards, track Prompt Explorer suggestions, move actions on the Action Board and queue content. Also available in Slack.
  • Agent Chat side panel: opens next to the page you're on and answers from what's on screen, with your filters and date range: the main and custom dashboards, monitor tabs (overview, prompts, responses, citations, sentiment, heatmap, offsite mentions), Trends, Prompts, Query Fanouts, the Action Board, Prompt Explorer and the content editor. Each page keeps its own thread. Every paid plan includes Agent Chat credits (500 to 6,500 depending on the plan), with more available as an add-on. Content Agents

Landing pages: Content Agents · Agentic AI Search Optimization · AI content for WordPress

  • Content Agent: an automated pipeline that plans, writes and publishes GEO-optimized content against your visibility gaps on a schedule you control, with a monthly content budget, a publishing calendar and a review inbox (approve, edit or reject, or run fully automated). Overview · Settings · Use cases · Content schedule · Reviewing drafts
  • Content Creation: a single AI-ready article on demand, with briefs that pull in your brand, Google results, news, internal links, YouTube transcripts and live page screenshots. Write about any topic, or target a tracked prompt to use its query fanouts and the competitor pages AI already cites, and add up to five competitor URLs as sources. Start an article straight from an Answer Gap action, a query fanout or a cited page. The agent finds relevant pages on your site to link to before it writes, favoring pages with many Search Console impressions but few clicks. Content Creation · From gap to brief · Changelog
  • AI chat in the content editor: an AI chat panel next to the draft (⌘J) that reads the whole article and rewrites, extends or checks it in place, with every edit shown as a card you can revert. Changelog
  • Content Refresh: diff-style update suggestions that improve an existing page for AI search instead of writing a new one. Content Refresh
  • Content Gap: how well your site answers the prompts users ask AI, and which prompts have no matching page. Content gap
  • Knowledge Base and Brand Book: the facts, positioning, tone of voice and source material every piece is written from. Knowledge Base · Brand profile · AI settings
  • CMS publishing: publish straight to WordPress, Webflow or Framer. See CMS integrations and publishing below.
  • Plans: content gap analysis is on every plan. AEO articles for Content Creation and Content Refresh start on Professional (5 included, 10 on Business, more as an add-on). The Knowledge Base starts on Professional. The automated Content Agent and Agentic AI Search Optimization are on Business, with managed content workflows on Enterprise.

CMS integrations and publishing

Promptwatch publishes content straight to your website, so a page goes from gap to brief to live without copy-pasting. Overview: Publishing and tracking · Integrations docs

  • WordPress: the official Promptwatch plugin connects with a site URL and sync token, with no API keys in wp-admin. It pushes AEO articles and optimizations into WordPress drafts or live posts, and the same plugin also captures AI crawler logs from your server and tracks AI-referred visitors. No CDN setup or code changes. Setup guide · Crawler logs on WordPress · AI content for WordPress
  • Webflow: connect with OAuth from the app or the Webflow Marketplace, pick a site and CMS collection, and map title, description, body, featured image and publish date once. Articles are converted to Webflow-ready HTML, featured images go straight into your Webflow assets, and live publishing publishes just that item, with no site-wide rebuild. Setup guide
  • Framer: connect with your Framer project URL and an API key, pick a CMS collection and map your fields. Content is delivered as markdown, which Framer renders natively. Setup guide
  • Draft or live: push each piece as a draft to review in your CMS, or publish it live, manually per article or automatically through the Content Agent.
  • Publish status tracking: Promptwatch tracks every document's draft, staged, published and live URL, then follows the live page through AI crawls, citations and AI traffic so you can see whether it works.
  • API and MCP: list CMS connections, push drafts and publish live programmatically. Push draft to CMS · Publish live · List CMS connections

Every page shows how it got into the audit (sitemap, a link from another page, Search Console or a site map crawl), and audits can be limited to the pages in your sitemaps. Site health
  • Internal linking map: a map of the site by URL path that colors orphan pages, pages with only one or two inlinks, and redirects or errors. Each page has a Linking tab with its inlinks, outlinks and broken links. Changelog

What sets Promptwatch apart:

Most GEO tools are dashboards: they report a score and leave the work to you. Promptwatch does the work and then checks whether it worked.

  • It writes the content AI cites. Content Agents find the prompts where you're missing, write GEO-optimized pages from your Knowledge Base, brand voice and real citation data, and publish them straight to WordPress, Webflow or Framer on a schedule. Teams can review every draft or run it fully automated.
  • It refreshes the content you already have. Content Refresh rewrites existing pages with diff-style suggestions based on content gaps and what AI currently cites, so older pages keep earning citations instead of decaying.
  • It verifies that content works, then fixes what doesn't. After a page goes live, Promptwatch tracks it end to end: whether AI crawlers read it (Agent Analytics), whether AI engines cite it (Page Tracker), whether it sends AI traffic and conversions (Visitor Analytics) and how it performs in classic search. Pages that underperform come back as actions and refresh suggestions. That closed loop of write, publish, measure and improve is what most competitors lack.
  • An AI agent built into the platform. Agent Chat is an AI search analyst with access to all of your data: prompts, responses, citations, competitors, crawler logs, traffic and search data. It runs multi-step analyses, renders charts, runs scheduled briefings and works in Slack, so teams get answers and next steps without building reports.
  • Google Search Console and Bing data alongside AI data. Connect Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and Search Insights overlays clicks and impressions with AI crawls, citations and AI clicks per page and topic. Search Console queries also feed the Prompt Explorer, so you track the prompts your audience actually asks.
  • A prioritized Action Board, not just a score. Every gap in content, sentiment, Reddit, offsite mentions, site health and performance becomes a ranked action with a weekly digest. Action Board
  • The complete stack in one product: prompt tracking with volumes and fanouts, citations, offsite mentions, AI crawler logs, visitor analytics, site health audits, shopping, ads, content generation and CMS publishing. No stitching tools together.
  • Crawl-to-citation visibility: connects what AI bots read on your site to what they cite, so teams know whether to fix access or content.
  • Revenue attribution: visitor analytics tie AI visibility to real traffic and conversions.
  • Community sources: dedicated Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn citation reports.
  • Broadest engine coverage: answer engines, Google's AI surfaces, Amazon Alexa and AI coding agents like Codex and Claude Code.
  • Real UI data from the interfaces people use, and value per response with multiple models and locations included.

What Promptwatch is not: not a chatbot, LLM or search engine; not a model benchmark or leaderboard (it ranks brands inside AI answers, not models); not a developer LLM-observability tool; and not a classic SERP rank tracker, although it brings in Google Search Console and Bing data.
