What is FedReporter Bot for FFIEC?
FedReporter Bot has a narrow source and destination. It retrieves public banking data from the FFIEC National Information Center for Fed Reporter, Inc. The named downloads include the Active, Closed, and Branches file, holding-company records, and 002 data.
Fed Reporter uses the material for regulatory research and daily updates to internal dashboards. Its documentation says requests may come from Selenium WebDriver or an HTTP client that submits search and form data. The bot does not bypass CAPTCHAs, and Fed Reporter says it does not commercially redistribute what it collects.
Scheduled jobs use FedReporterDataBot/1.0. A separate FedReporterDataBot-Testing/0.1 header identifies low-frequency development checks during off-peak hours. Fed Reporter's own page says the bot follows robots.txt, but the crawler directory marks support as false. That conflict makes log verification important.
No AI search or model-training purpose is documented. The bot's direct effect is on Fed Reporter's ability to refresh specific FFIEC datasets for internal analysis. Traffic on an unrelated site does not fit the published scope.
