What is ParticleNewsBot?
Particle News uses ParticleNewsBot to index publicly accessible material for its news product. The operator says indexed items are attributed to the original source and include a link back to that source.
Particle News is an AI-powered product. Allowing the crawler can make reporting available inside that product, but Particle does not say the crawl trains a general-purpose model or places the same article in unrelated AI search products.
The published user agent is Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; ParticleNewsBot/1.0; +https://particle.news/bot). Requests come from US-based cloud infrastructure, and Particle warns that the addresses may change. It rate-limits concurrent requests and can adjust that rate for individual sites.
Particle documents robots.txt controls, including Crawl-delay, path exclusions, and a full block. One limitation is unusual: it reads the file at the root of the primary domain but says it does not support robots files on subdomains. Publishers with separate subdomain policies may need an additional server-side control.
