What is Promptwatch Bot?
Promptwatch Bot is a customer-triggered verification and audit client operated by Promptwatch. It identifies itself as promptwatch-bot/1.0 (+https://promptwatch.com/bot) and requests a site or page associated with a Promptwatch project. It is not an open-web crawler that discovers URLs on its own.
The Validate Integration flow sends a synthetic GET request to the project's website with type=promptwatch-test-event and the project ID in the query string. Promptwatch then looks for the corresponding row in the connected server or CDN log stream. Finding that row confirms that the request reached the site and that the log forwarding path returned the event to Promptwatch. Test events are excluded from crawler analytics.
Promptwatch also uses the bot for audits that a customer starts in the product. In that case it fetches the selected page so the requested SEO, performance, or content checks can run. These fetches are operational inputs to the audit. They do not submit the page to an AI search index or use it to train a model.
Promptwatch Bot honors robots.txt, but a user-agent string is still easy to copy. A request on an unrelated site should be checked against recent Promptwatch activity before it is trusted. Blocking the genuine client prevents the integration test or requested audit from finishing; it does not change how independent AI crawlers treat the site.
