What is Trendiction Bot?

Trendiction Bot gathers material from public news sites, blogs, message boards, and comment sections. Trendiction says the collected pages enter its public search engine and are also processed for delivery through web service APIs. Market-research firms and other applications can use those services instead of running their own crawlers.

For a publisher, the practical result is inclusion in Trendiction's search and data products. An article or public comment may become available to clients that monitor online coverage. Trendiction does not say this crawl supplies generative AI models or an AI answer engine, so it should not be treated as AI training traffic.

The crawler identifies itself with trendictionbot0.5.0 inside a longer browser-style string. It supports gzip and caches fetched material. Conditional requests using If-Modified-Since and ETag let the server avoid returning a full page when nothing has changed.

Request frequency is not fixed. Trendiction says it adjusts the interval according to the site's ranking, the hits it finds, and its internal cache. The operator also publishes a bot-specific robots rule, although it may keep using the prior file for up to five days.

Not relevant for AI search

Is Trendiction Bot relevant for AI search?

No. Trendiction Bot is not part of AI search or training, so allowing or blocking it does not change your AI visibility.

Trendiction Bot collects data about pages for analysis and reports. The data describes your site rather than promoting it, and nothing it gathers goes into a search index or an AI model.

How to handle Trendiction Bot

Leave public material open if inclusion in Trendiction's search and monitoring data is useful. For forums or archives with expensive sections, exclude those paths rather than removing the entire publication.

Trendiction documents this full robots.txt exclusion:

User-agent: trendictionbot
Disallow: /

Use the lowercase token from the operator's page. Trendiction says it caches the file, so allow up to five days before judging a new rule. Its documentation indicates robots support and the bot metadata agrees, while the supplied Cloudflare record marks the crawler as non-following. Verify actual compliance in your logs. Report loops or excessive requests to Trendiction with the complete user agent.

Examples

  • A newspaper receives an `If-Modified-Since` request from `trendictionbot0.5.0` and returns an unchanged response instead of sending the article body again.
  • A discussion site keeps public threads available to Trendiction but disallows a recursive calendar path that was creating unnecessary crawl traffic.
