What is Discord Bot?
Discord Bot requests URLs that people place in Discord chats. It reads the shared page so Discord can assemble an embed with contextual material such as the title, description, and image.
The fetch belongs to the message preview, not to the eventual click. A server may see Discord Bot even when no chat participant opens the URL, so these requests should be separated from human referral traffic. Discord also lets a sender suppress an embed for one link by wrapping the URL in angle brackets.
Cloudflare's bot directory records the full user agent as Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Discordbot/2.0; +https://discordapp.com). This bot entry is marked unverifiable and provides no authenticated IP range or signature directory. Discordbot is useful for classification, but the header can be imitated.
There is no documented AI search or model-training purpose for this fetcher. Its effect is confined to Discord's link-preview workflow. Robots behavior is disputed: this entry says the bot respects robots.txt, while Cloudflare explicitly marks followsRobotsTxt as false.
