What is creobot?

Creobot appears at an origin server when creoline's content delivery network needs an asset. If the requested resource is not already available at the selected edge, the CDN retrieves it from the configured origin and can cache the result for later delivery.

The origin request uses a dedicated identity. creoline documents Creobot 2.0.1 (+https://www.creoline.com/de/products/content-delivery-network), while this directory uses Creobot as the stable token. Operators can match that prefix when deciding which files the CDN may fetch.

Despite its Preview category, this traffic is an asset-delivery step rather than a social link unfurl. Creobot has no recorded role in AI search, answer generation, or model training. Allowing an approved CDN fetch can improve that customer's asset delivery, but it does not make a page more likely to appear in an AI response.

Robots.txt behavior is not confirmed by the bot metadata, and Cloudflare's bot directory marks Creobot as not following robots.txt. The record has no verified IP status or signature-agent URL. Use the user agent to classify traffic, then rely on route rules or authentication when access must be enforced.

Indirectly relevant

Is creobot relevant for AI search?

Indirectly. creobot has no AI product of its own, but its output can end up in the systems that AI answers draw on.

creobot fetches pages to build link-preview cards. It does not feed an AI index, but it reads the same Open Graph and structured metadata that AI systems parse to understand your pages, so clean preview metadata doubles as AI-friendly metadata.

How to handle creobot

If your site uses creoline CDN, allow Creobot to fetch the public asset paths assigned to that service. creoline's own example filters requests by the Creobot prefix and permits only selected file extensions, which is more precise than opening every origin route.

You can still publish a robots.txt preference for the stable token:

User-agent: Creobot
Disallow: /

Cloudflare's bot directory records the bot as not following robots.txt, so use a 403, CDN policy, or application rule for an enforceable block. Denying expected origin fetches can prevent uncached assets from being delivered through the creoline CDN.

Examples

  • A first request for an uncached WebP image reaches the origin as Creobot, after which the creoline edge can serve the cached asset.
  • A store using the CDN accepts Creobot on image and stylesheet paths but returns `403` when the same identity requests an application route.
