What is OpenGraphXYZBot?
OpenGraph.xyz lets a user scan a URL to inspect its social preview and create Open Graph metadata or dynamic preview images. OpenGraphXYZBot is the token associated with that work. A request therefore fits a page-inspection or preview-generation task, rather than an open-ended search crawl.
The service needs the target page's metadata to show what a social network or chat app could display. That preview is generated inside OpenGraph.xyz. It does not mean Facebook, LinkedIn, X, or Slack has fetched the URL, and it does not clear any cached card held by those platforms.
This is an unusually thin identity record. The operator field is blank, verification is marked unverifiable, Cloudflare has no matching record, and no full user agent, IP range, or signature directory is supplied. The local metadata says robots.txt is respected and gives OpenGraphXYZBot as a stable token, but the available official product documentation does not confirm the bot's robots behavior.
OpenGraphXYZBot has no documented AI search or model-training function. Its work concerns social metadata and generated preview images. A visit may show that someone inspected a page in OpenGraph.xyz, but it says nothing about the page's inclusion in an AI answer or training corpus.
