What is PressEngine Bot?
PressEngineBot checks video game and entertainment coverage submitted to PressEngine. Its current crawl policy describes two modes: an automatic crawler that scans the outlet database for new coverage and outlets, and a manual crawler that reads a URL supplied by a PressEngine user.
The bot matches coverage with campaigns in PressEngine. It records the page URL, title, a content summary, and links to other pages on the same site, with discovery limited to three levels. PressEngine says it does not collect page images or videos, follow off-site links, inspect areas that do not normally contain coverage, or copy content for republication.
For an outlet, a completed fetch can verify that submitted coverage exists and is viewable. PressEngine warns users that blocking the bot may lower coverage ratings and may affect review-key requests. This workflow has no documented connection to general AI search, citations, or model training.
The stable identifier is PressEngineBot, and the official policy publishes a full user agent plus a changing list of source addresses. Robots guidance conflicts: this file's metadata and Cloudflare say the bot follows robots.txt, but PressEngine's current policy says it does not. Site owners should follow the operator's current statement for enforcement and treat robots.txt as an uncertain signal.
