What is Vemetric Favicon Bot?
Vemetric's Favicon API accepts a domain and returns a favicon for it. When the service does not already have the icon it needs, the associated fetcher looks for the best available favicon on the target site. The resulting image can then be returned at a requested size or in a supported image format.
The public API is one step removed from the origin request. A product can ask favicon.vemetric.com for an icon, after which the favicon service contacts the target site. The target's logs therefore show an asset-retrieval workflow, not the original person's browser and not necessarily a page view.
Vemetric documents the API as open source and self-hostable. A self-hosted copy may use different infrastructure or headers. this bot provides no stable user-agent token, full user-agent example, verified IP status, or Cloudflare identity, so requests cannot be reliably attributed from the name "Vemetric Favicon Bot" alone. Although the directory marks robots compliance true, it supplies no token with which to write a bot-specific rule.
Fetching a favicon has no documented effect on AI search or model training. It does not index the page text or make the domain more likely to appear in an AI answer. The practical outcome is limited to the icon returned by a favicon service.
