LinkedIn Citation Tracking: See Which LinkedIn Posts AI Cites [New Feature]

Promptwatch now tracks LinkedIn citations alongside Reddit and YouTube, showing exactly which posts and authors AI answers cite, and how often.

Promptwatch's Socials section now covers LinkedIn, joining Reddit and YouTube as a third tracked social source. For every prompt you're monitoring, you can see which LinkedIn posts and authors AI answers actually cite, how often, and how that's trending over time. It's the same citation-level visibility Promptwatch already gives you for Reddit threads and YouTube videos, now extended to LinkedIn.

What's new

Under Socials, a new LinkedIn tab sits alongside Reddit and YouTube. It shows a citations-over-time chart plotting the top cited posts day by day, a ranked list of the posts driving the most citations, and a full table of every post AI has cited: author, reactions, comments, citation count, and average position in the response, all sortable and searchable by post or author. Click into any post to see the citing responses behind the numbers.

Why LinkedIn

LinkedIn has become a real source AI models draw on when answering B2B and industry questions, alongside Reddit's community discussions and YouTube's video content. Posts from vendors, analysts, and practitioners routinely get pulled into ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overview answers as supporting sources. Until now, that activity was invisible: you could see that a brand got mentioned or cited, but not that the citation traced back to a specific LinkedIn post or the author behind it. This view closes that gap, so a post claiming credit for "we're cited in AI answers" is now something you can actually verify, post by post.

It also opens up two things a Reddit- or YouTube-only view couldn't: who the individual authors and companies are that AI keeps citing on LinkedIn (your own team's posts, a competitor's, or an industry voice's) and whether a specific post is worth amplifying because it's already doing real work in AI Search, not just collecting likes.

What actually gets cited

Looking at Promptwatch’s own citation data report, written long-form content dominates LinkedIn citations across all tracked models:

  • Pulse articles: 37.67% of citations, the largest share
  • Feed posts: 32.19%
  • Company pages: 13.35%
  • Job listings, product pages, LinkedIn Learning, help articles, and showcase pages: about 16% combined

Articles and posts together account for roughly 70% of everything AI cites from LinkedIn, which lines up with what Promptwatch already sees on Reddit and YouTube: models favor real written or narrated content over structured or promotional pages.

That mix shifts by model:

  • ChatGPT leans structural: company pages (23.84%) and the LinkedIn homepage itself (22.55%) lead, with Pulse articles (8.77%) and job listings (8.02%) well behind
  • Perplexity leans conversational: feed posts (41.88%) get cited more than any other format, ahead of Pulse articles (32.46%)
  • Google AI Mode leans hardest on Pulse articles (44.85%), with posts a distant second at roughly 27% and company pages third
  • Google AI Overviews also leans hardest on Pulse articles (42.25%), with posts second at roughly 27% and company pages third

That's a useful signal for what to actually post: content aimed at getting cited by Google's AI surfaces or Perplexity is playing a different game than content aimed at ChatGPT, where showing up depends more on a well-built company page and homepage than on the writing itself.

Filtering and export

Like every other citation view in Promptwatch, LinkedIn citations can be filtered by prompt, topic, or tag, so you can narrow down to just the posts feeding a particular set of tracked queries rather than scrolling the full account-wide list. The table exports the same way every other citation table does, for anyone who wants the raw data outside the dashboard.

In complement of Reddit and YouTube

This isn't a replacement for either existing view. It's the third leg alongside them. Reddit surfaces community discussion and threads, YouTube surfaces video content, and now LinkedIn surfaces professional and industry posts, each tracked with the same citation depth so the three sit side by side rather than in isolation. Together they cover the offsite sources AI models lean on most for citations that don't point back to a brand's own site.

Where to find it

LinkedIn Citation Tracking is live now under Socials in the left-hand navigation, next to the existing Reddit and YouTube tabs. No setup required. If you're already tracking prompts, LinkedIn citations for those prompts are there to explore today.
