What is Google StoreBot?
Google StoreBot gathers commerce information for Google Shopping. Rules addressed to its Storebot-Google token affect Shopping surfaces, including the Shopping tab within Google Search, rather than the ordinary web results produced from Googlebot's index.
Its crawl can extend past a product detail page. The crawler record describes StoreBot moving through product pages and checkout flows, using automated form filling for details such as delivery addresses so Google can collect information about price, delivery, and payment options. That can make its traffic look more like a shopping session than a simple page fetch.
Google publishes desktop and mobile StoreBot user agents. It classifies StoreBot as a common crawler, which means automatic requests follow robots.txt, and notes that StoreBot only uses HTTP caching in some conditions. Logs can therefore contain repeat fetches as Google refreshes shopping data.
StoreBot's direct visibility effect is limited to Google Shopping. A product page may also appear in ordinary Search or an AI Overview through Googlebot's separate crawl, but a StoreBot visit alone does not establish that eligibility. Google does not document StoreBot as a Gemini training crawler.
