Which AI Visibility Tools Track Brand Mentions Across Multiple Countries and Languages?

Promptwatch tracks brand mentions in AI answers by country, language and city (in every country) on every plan, with one monitor per market and a world map of where your brand appears.

TL;DR

  • Tracking per country and language matters because AI engines build each answer from local sources in the user's language, so the same question can name different brands in France and the US, and one global visibility score hides the markets where competitors lead.
  • The tools differ on three points that matter for multi-market brands: how the country is set, which AI engines return country-specific answers, and which plan includes more than one market.
  • Country and language are separate settings: the country controls where the AI engine thinks the user is, and the language controls how the question is asked and answered, so each market needs both set correctly.
  • Promptwatch runs one monitor per country and language (with an optional city in any country, or a US state) on every plan from $95/month, scrapes the live interface of each AI engine, and shows a world map of where your brand appears and which markets you don't track yet.

Brands that sell in several countries get a different answer from ChatGPT in each one. A French buyer asking in French sees different brands and sources than a US buyer asking in English, and a single global visibility number hides the markets where competitors lead.

That makes multi-market support one of the first questions buyers ask when they compare AEO tools.

What multi-country and multi-language tracking actually means

Multi-market tracking means running the same set of prompts as if users in different countries asked them, in the language they would use, and keeping each market's answers separate. Brands, competitors, citations and sentiment are then measured per market.

Two settings make that work, and tools handle them differently.

Country: where the AI engine thinks the user is

The country setting tells the AI engine where the request comes from. Tools do this by routing requests through servers or residential IPs in that country, matching browser locale and timezone, or passing a location parameter where the engine accepts one. The engine then retrieves local sources, such as national news sites, review platforms and retailers.

Language: how the question is asked and answered

The language setting is the language of the prompt itself. Most tools in this list accept prompts in any language and send them to the engine exactly as written. The engine usually answers in the language of the question, and it cites sources in that language when it can find them.

Translating your English prompts word for word is a weak start. People in each market phrase questions differently, use local brand names and compare against local competitors. Our guide on how to choose prompts to track covers building a prompt list from real customer questions, which works the same way in every language.

One market per time series

The cleanest setup keeps one country and one language per tracked set of prompts. Mixing markets in one project blends the results into a single number, and a gain in Germany can cancel out a loss in France. Look for a tool that reports visibility, AI share of voice and sentiment per market, and lets you compare markets side by side.

Two patterns stand out. First, most vendors don't document how the country is set, which makes it hard to tell whether results reflect a real local user. Second, extra markets often sit behind a higher tier or an add-on: AthenaHQ includes one region on Starter, Profound adds regions through Enterprise, and Semrush charges $99/month per extra Brand Performance location.

The tools in detail

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is an AI search visibility and GEO platform that tracks how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Gemini and five other platforms answer the prompts you choose, then shows which sources they cite and what to fix.

Multi-market tracking is built into monitors. A monitor is a set of prompts run daily across your chosen engines, scoped to one country and one language, plus an optional city (available in every country) or US state. You create one monitor per market, for example "DE, German," "FR, French, Paris" and "BE, French (Belgium)," and each keeps its own time series. Within each monitor, prompt tracking records the brands named, their position, sentiment, cited URLs and the query fan-out each engine ran.

How location works: Promptwatch scrapes the live interface of each AI engine, so answers reflect localization, ordering and citations as a real user sees them. Responses pulled from an engine's API can differ from that experience, which we cover in our article on AI search monitoring API data versus real-interface data. Monitors with a city (in any country) or a US state set route through a geo-located residential proxy in that location, with browser locale and timezone matched.

What you get per market:

  • Visibility Score, share of voice, sentiment and competitor heatmaps per monitor.
  • Visibility by Country (released August 28, 2026): a world map on the dashboard showing where your brand appears in AI answers and which countries you don't track yet, with one click to start tracking a new market.
  • Citations per monitor, including Reddit and YouTube sources, so you can see which local publishers and review sites shape each market's answer.
  • Content Gap Analysis, which tests each prompt's fan-out sub-queries against your indexed pages, so you can see which local questions your site doesn't answer.
  • Monitor reports: PDF reports scoped to one monitor and its market.
  • Brand merging, which rolls local brand names or legal entities into one brand's visibility.

Pricing: Essential $95/month (50 prompts), Professional $245/month (150 prompts), Business $579/month (350 prompts). Country, state and city tracking is included on all three, and prompts and responses are pooled across your account. Agency plans (Kick-off $199/month, Growth $399/month, Scale $799/month) include unlimited prompts, unlimited client projects and all 11 platforms tracked at once.

Limits to know: on Brands plans, each project tracks 4 of the 11 platforms at a time, chosen from the full list. City targeting works in every country, and state targeting is US-only. Scheduled reports are weekly only.

2. Profound

Profound runs prompts through servers and proxy networks in more than 80 countries. Country-level analysis is the default, and state, province or city analysis is available on request.

  • Pricing: free trial with one region; Enterprise with custom regions and custom pricing.
  • Limits: language support isn't documented, and additional regions go through sales. Compare options in our list of Profound alternatives.

3. Scrunch

Scrunch supports 88 countries and territories as a brand's primary country, and each prompt can target any country. Prompts can be written in any language. Country can also come from a persona or from a city named in the prompt text.

  • Pricing: Starter $250/month billed annually ($300 month to month), Growth $417/month ($500 month to month), Enterprise custom.
  • Limits: country-specific results are documented for ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Scrunch's help center notes that not every platform returns data in every country. More options in our roundup of Scrunch alternatives.

4. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush's Prompt Tracking covers 220+ countries and territories. Its other AI reports (Visibility Overview, Competitor Research, Prompt Research) cover about 40 countries.

  • Pricing: $99/month with 25 Prompt Tracking prompts; 50 more prompts for $60/month; extra Brand Performance locations $99/month each.
  • Limits: supported languages for Prompt Tracking aren't listed.

5. SE Ranking (SE Visible)

SE Visible lists visibility analysis across 7 countries and 5 languages, tracking ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

  • Pricing: Basic $99/month, Core $189/month, Plus $355/month.
  • Limits: the countries and languages aren't named on the product page.

6. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ's Starter plan includes a single region and a single language. Multiple countries and languages are listed on Enterprise.

  • Pricing: Starter $295/month; Enterprise custom.
  • Limits: specific countries and languages aren't named.

Why one global visibility score hides market-level losses

AI engines build each answer from the sources they retrieve for that market. When a user in Spain asks in Spanish, the engine's fan-out searches pull in Spanish publishers, review sites and retailers, then recommend the brands those sources mention. A brand that leads in the US can be absent in Spain because the Spanish answer draws on a different set of pages.

A blended global score averages that away. Promptwatch customers who sell internationally track markets separately for this reason: the largest accounts run more than 6,000 prompts across 17 markets. In Promptwatch's analysis of around 150 customer calls, hospitality and travel brands came up as a group with a distinct need for multi-language, multi-property visibility.

Weaker local content also shows up faster in AI answers than in classic search:

"The amazing thing about AI is that it amplifies the mistakes. In the past, your UK website may not have been as good as your Dutch website, and you could get away with it. But because AI pulls from so many sources, and you have little control over where it pulls from, it became a serious issue." - Iain Davenport, Director of Business Solutions at Monks

Sentiment also varies by market. The same product can be described as "reliable" in one language and "expensive" in another, depending on the local reviews the engine reads. Tracking LLM brand sentiment monitoring per market shows where a local narrative needs work.

How to set up multi-market monitoring in Promptwatch

  1. Pick your priority markets. Start with the countries where revenue sits, plus one or two where you suspect competitors lead. The Visibility by Country map shows where you already appear.
  2. Create one monitor per market. Set country and language, and add a city (in any country) or a US state if you need local detail. One context per monitor keeps each trend clean.
  3. Write prompts the way locals ask. Use native phrasing, local competitor names and local buying criteria for each language.
  4. Choose your engines. Pick the engines your buyers use in each market, and check which ones return localized answers there.
  5. Compare markets and act. Compare visibility and share of voice by monitor, open the citations where you're missing, and use Content Gap Analysis to find the local questions your pages don't answer. Track the trend over several weeks, since single-day swings are normal.

FAQ

Does ChatGPT give different answers in different countries?

Yes. ChatGPT search retrieves sources based on the user's location and language, so the same question asked in Germany and the US can name different brands and cite different publishers. Tracking from each market is the only way to see the answer local buyers get.

Can I track AI visibility in languages other than English?

Yes. Most AI visibility tools accept prompts in any language, including Promptwatch and Scrunch. Promptwatch sets the language per monitor, with regional variants such as French (Belgium), so each language market has its own data.

Is translating my English prompts enough for multilingual tracking?

Translation is a starting point. People in each market phrase questions differently, compare against local competitors and use local terms. Build each market's prompts from local customer questions, search data and sales conversations.

Which Promptwatch plan includes multi-country tracking?

All of them. Country, city and US state tracking is included on Essential ($95/month), Professional ($245/month) and Business ($579/month), and on Agency plans from $199/month. Each monitor holds one country, one language and an optional city (in any country) or US state.

How many countries can I track at once?

It depends on the tool and plan. In Promptwatch, you add one monitor per market and prompts are pooled across your account, and the largest accounts track 17 markets. AthenaHQ limits Starter to one region, and Profound adds regions through Enterprise contracts.

Do all AI engines support country-level results?

No. Engines with geolocated search, such as ChatGPT search, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, return country-specific answers. Some engines aren't available in every country, so check which engines return data for each of your markets.
