What is the Shopping section?
The Shopping section tracks product cards in AI search: when ChatGPT answers a buying question with a shopping carousel, Promptwatch extracts every product in it and stores the card as it appeared, including price, merchant, rating, review count, and its position in the carousel. You’ll find it in the sidebar under Shopping, with two tabs: Overview (everything AI models showed) and My products (your own catalog, matched against those results). Shopping data comes from responses, not from a separate collection. When one of your tracked prompts triggers a shopping result, the products are extracted from that response automatically. Today that covers ChatGPT (search) responses and Amazon Alexa responses. Not every response includes shopping, so this section only fills up when your prompts actually trigger product cards; see Setting up shopping prompts for the prompt phrasing that does. Two kinds of product
- Extracted product: a product AI models showed, identified by the ID the AI platform uses for it. One extracted product can have many appearances across responses and dates.
- Tracked product: a product from your own catalog that you upload with your catalog ID, name, and description. Tracked products match extracted products by exact ID, so you can tell “AI recommends products in my category” apart from “AI recommends my products”. See Upload and manage your products.
What the Overview shows
- Product Position: the products with the most appearances, shown as a rank chart against each other over time. The list next to it shows each product’s average shopping-block position (position 1 is the first card).
- Top Products: the products that appeared most often in your date range.
- Top Merchants: the merchant domains behind those product cards, so you can see which stores AI models send buyers to, including whether that’s you.
What each row in the table shows
Every row is one appearance of one product in one response:- Product: title, thumbnail, and the platform’s product ID.
- Price: the headline price, plus low, high, and average offer prices when the card carried multiple offers.
- Merchant: the store(s) the card linked to.
- Rating and Reviews: the star rating and review count shown on the card.
- Position: where the product sat inside the shopping block of that response, so you can compare being card #1 against card #8.
- Date: when the response was collected.
